Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (300 Hz - 300 GHz)
People are increasingly being exposed to electromagnetic fields in the radiofrequency range, defined in the framework of this report as the frequency range from 300 hertz (Hz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz = 109 Hz). Typical sources are radio- and television broadcast transmitters, portable telecommunication devices and radar equipment. Under certain conditions, such exposure may lead to adverse health effects. Exposure limits will minimize the risk of such effects. In this report a committee of the Health Council of the Netherlands recommends exposure limits for various exposure conditions.
