Tests for Chemical Substances
In order to ensure that chemical substances can be used safely, the European regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances ) was developed. Part of the requirement formulated in REACH is the Two-Generation Reproduction Toxicity Study (TGRTS) for detecting the effects of substance exposure on reproduction. The state secretary asked the Health Council of the Netherlands whether it would be desirable, to replace the current Two-Generation Reproduction Toxicity Study (TGRTS) by the Extended One-Generation Reproduction Toxicity Study (EOGRTS). The EOGRTS include a set of neurotoxicity and immunotoxicity parameters, which are not tested for in the TGRTS.
