Molybdenum and molybdenum compounds - Health-based recommended occupational exposure limit

Workers in the metal producing and processing industry, who are exposed to molybdenum and molybdenum compounds may report headache, fatigue and signs of mild obstructive lung diseases. The health damage can be prevented by maintaining the concentration of molybdenum trioxide in the air lower than 0.1 mg/m3 (corresponds to 0.07 mg molybdenum/m3), and for sodium molybdate lower than 9.9 mg/m3 (corresponds to 4.6 mg molybdenum/m3), averaged of a working day of eight hours. This is written in an advisory report of the Health Council, which today is presented to the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment.
