Employees and infectious diseases - Criteria for vaccination

Vaccination may protect employees when they are exposed at work to viruses and bacteria. Sometimes employees are not at risk themselves, but can be a source of risk to third parties, such as vulnerable patients or young children. Vaccination may then also offer a solution. At a request of the State Secretary for Social Affairs and Employment the Health Council of the Netherlands developed two frameworks which employers can use to determine whether vaccination of employees should be recommended: the first to protect the health of employees and the second to protect the health of third parties. By using both frameworks employers can make an integrated assessment concerning offering vaccination to employees.
