Population screening act: study into self-sampling as primary screening for cervical cancer
Self test for cervical cancer screening. Before a self test may be considered appropriate for cervical cancer for all women in the population it must be shown that it is a good alternative to a cervical smear by a GP. VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam and the Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen want to invite 30,000 women to study this. According to the Population Screening Act this study requires a permit. The Health Council advises the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport to grant this license.
