Population Screening Act: study into hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis in The Maastricht Study

The Maastricht is an ongoing observational, population-based cohort study that focuses on type diabetes mellitus, cardio-vascular diseases and other chronic conditions. As part of The Maastricht Study, the Maastricht University Medical Centre intends to examine the association of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The Committee on Population Screening of the Health Council advises the State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport to grant a permit for this sub-study under the condition that the information for participants will be extended with information about possible consequences of participation.
