Cut-off value in colorectal cancer screening programme
In the population-based colorectal cancer screening programme, started in 2014, participants’ stools are tested for blood. When the measure is higher than the predetermined cut-off value, participant are referred for a colonoscopy. After the programme is rolled out completely, it will be evaluated. Until then, the cut-off value of the faecal test does not need to be adjusted, advises the Health Council of the Netherlands. This is concluded from the results to date of the programme and the corresponding benefit-risk ratio.
