Causes of respiratory problems near livestock farms unclear

Recent studies confirm that residents living near livestock farms more often do have a decreased lung function and an increased risk of pneumonia. However, it cannot be concluded that the associations are causal in nature. This does not alter the fact that it is sensible to reduce emissions of particulate matter and ammonia.
