Encourage physical activity and limit sedentary behaviour among young children
Regular physical activity and avoiding that children sit still for long periods are crucial to the health and development of young children. Although it is known that more physical activity can improve health, there are no concrete physical activity guidelines for young children yet. The Health Council advises the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport to supplement the existing physical activity guidelines – which apply from the age of 4 – with the physical activity guidelines for young children issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
