Trial with early colorectal cancer population screening recommended
The Health Council of the Netherlands recommends conducting a trial with one-off screening of people around the age of 50 prior to the regular colorectal cancer screening, which starts at age 55. The Council is also positive about the current screening programme, which appears to reduce mortality due to colorectal cancer, according to an initial evaluation of the programme. The Council has informed the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport accordingly in an advisory report.
