Health-based occupational exposure limit for respirable crystalline silica
Occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica (quartz dust) can cause lung disease. The Health Council contributes to the protection of workers by estimating health-based calculated occupational cancer risk values (HBC-OCRVs). These are levels of exposure below which adverse health effects are limited as much as possible. Based on scientific studies, the council recommends new HBC-OCRVs for respirable crystalline silica.
