Protect newborns by offering pertussis vaccination to employees
Employees who are in contact with infants under the age of 6 months should be offered vaccination against pertussis (whooping cough) by their employer. This is the main conclusion of an advisory report sent by the Health Council to the State Secretary of Participation and Integration (Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment). Despite the introduction of maternal pertussis vaccination in 2019, there is still a group of infants who are not sufficiently protected during their first months of life. The vaccination of employees is meant to protect this group.
