Vaccination of girls and boys against HPV

Infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) can lead to cervical cancer. It is now also known to be involved in other forms of cancer as well, in the genital area and in the mouth and throat. Not only in women, but also in men. Vaccination against HPV is effective, offers herd protection and is safe. The Health Council of the Netherlands therefore advices to vaccinate both girls and boys.
